I used ES File Explorer because it had a feature that allowed me to transfer files from my phone to my PC wireslessly. I need an alternative that can do the same thing.

I missed ES file explorer 10 montha ago. Last time I used CX Explorer which is useful also, but lack of features that ES does have. Right now I am using Solid Explorer which I paid half of 1$ in order to continue using and yes nearly the features of ES file explorer. That's it!

CX Explorer is the fastest. It has a blazing fast search.
Although I've gone with Solid Explorer, it has an awesome UI, customizable themes and drag-n-drop functionality.

And the price is listed as "6 pln" which makes me think that solid Explorer is another app put out by a Chinese-government-relationship company, not sure

Mix file explorer is even better then these, as it's made by xda developers, and is quite powerful. And safer.

You're practically screwed if you can't download Google Chrome to your Nvidia shield. That requires the ES file explorer. If you can't get that, and no one i have seen on any off these videos having the answer to truly fix it; the Nvidia Shield is rendered useless; and you'll have lost a bunch of money on a piece of hardware that doesn't work!!!
DO NOT BY THE NVIDIA SHIELD , if you haven't already!!!
You'll save on a bunch of lost cash.

Thank for sharing alternatives. Let me share my experience. For me, all I need ES File Explorer to do is sideloading my APK collection to my cousin's newly bought Android TV. I was looking for something tha is purely sideloading things from my USB thumb drive to an Android device. Then, as I searched for keywords of apk and installing, I found something called "MI Box APK Installer". It looks like working fine on installing my apk collection on my cousin's TV from my USB drive. If you are also looking for something simple like me, maybe you can check it out.

Any recommendations for an alternative on fire tv’s? I have a fire TV game box, and none of these come up as options in the amazon store. The Firefox version they have in the amazon store, doesn’t give access to downloaded files…

Great great video @TripleM. I uninstalled ES as soon as you made the initial video and have been primarily using Puffin but will definitely give those a try, they seem to function nice
